It seems like each time i open the newspaper, turn on tv. or open a browser, there’s bad news of some sort. Truck drivers deliberately heading into a crowd of people, shootings of young black men by police officers, shootings of police officers by protesters, attempted coups in ally countries resulting in hundreds of deaths. Mass shootings in discos, stadiums, churches. Civil war in South Sudan resulting in thousands of displaced persons, joining tens of millions displaced persons world wide. stabbings, shootings, and rockets causing tension between Palestine and Israel.
And then we add earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and typhoons, tsunamis, and the list goes on. The world is in crisis. And so we pray.
So where does it end, how do we pray? Sometimes there are no words, and we go before the throne of grace, and have no choice but to let Holy Spirit offer the groans that He and the Father understand. We are reaching the point where all of creation cries out in pain and sorrow, and we desperately long for the day when we see the “New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” (Rev 21:2, NIV)
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus, come!
