Adopting a missionary

One of our value statements reminds us that as a church we want to send and support missionaries. We haven’t always done a great job of that, but we’re trying to get back on track.  The last few years we’ve been able to partner with Clearfield Community Church and send some of our teens on mission trips.

Last week we hosted Katie Longkumer, who is an ABC-USA commissioned missionary, or development worker, in India where she and husband Taku have an incredible ministry providing training for local pastors. Christianity is spreading thanks to the way the Spirit is working through them .  At the board meeting yesterday there was considerable interest in supporting them. We elected as a church to send $100.00/month. We also took up a love offering which turned into a sizable amount (thanks for your generosity.

There has also been some interest by individuals in being a financial or prayer partner – someone just texted to let me know that there will be a monthly charge on the debit card. It’s fairly easy to make a one-time or an on-going donation. Check out this web site  for more information.

Now we just sit back and wait, wonder, and watch to see  what God is up to next.
