Wednesday, Feb 13, is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, that 40 day period that leads us to Good Friday and the crucifixion, and on to the empty cross of Resurrection Sunday. Ash Wednesday is a day of repentance, often marked by fasting and prayer, and in some churches a service which includes the imposition of ashes as a sign of solidarity with other sinners, and a reminder that we’re all in this sin business together. The ashes remind us that we are sinners, but when we wash them off later, we are also reminded that the blood of Jesus washes us clean. Sinners saved by grace.
Please join us on Ash Wednesday, Feb 13, at 12 noon as we start our Lenten journey with the imposition of ashes.
